Manners & Customs ( Reegi to shuukan) #Part 1

  1. Please tell/teach me = oshi'ete kudasai 〔教えてください)
  2. (social) customs = shuukan 〔習慣)
  3. Manners = manaa (マナ―)
  4. Social etiquette = reegi 
  5. Bowing = ojigi 〔お辞儀)
  6. Avoiding long eye contact = me o awase-sugi-nai 〔目を合わせ過ぎない)
  7. Taking off your shoes = kutsu o nugu 〔靴を脱ぐ)
  8. "proper" Japanese sitting posture = seeza 
  9. Diplomatic show of interest, concern, appreciation, etc = tatema'e (建前)
  10. Real intention feelings, etc = hon'ne (本音)
  11. Gift-giving = okurimono (贈り物)
  12. Giving something back = oka'eshi (お返し)
  13. Souvenir = omiyage (おみやげ)
  14. It's only a small gift = tsumara-nai mono des ga (つまらない物ですが)
  15. What a nice gift = kekkoo-na mono o 
  16. Just a little thank you gift = hon'no oka'eshi des (ほんのお返しです)
